Save an event
Tap +, enter the event name and time, then tap the save icon at the top right. Going back or dismissing the editor without saving discards the changes.
Notifications and alarms
Enable notifications in the app and in system Settings. Saved schedules can notify you while the app is in the background or closed. Check Focus and notification delivery settings if a notice is not visible. Audible alarms have a separate switch and permission and require iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
Some repeat rules and large date selections are scheduled in batches. The app shows the scheduled-through date when relevant; open it before that date to extend future reminders. On Android, a system Force Stop prevents normal background work until you open the app again.
Home Screen widgets
Touch and hold the Home Screen, choose Edit → Add Widget, then search for Small Steps or 时光小步. Touch and hold an installed widget and choose Edit Widget to select its events and appearance. Open the app to sync saved changes; if needed, use Save & Sync Widgets on the Widgets page.
Widget refreshes are scheduled by the operating system. Character movement on a widget follows those updates; animation inside the app is continuous.
Photo characters
Choose a photo with a clear subject, refine the cutout with the Keep and Erase brushes, and apply your edits to preview the result. Further edits start from the current result. Only Restore Original returns to the original photo. Image processing happens on your device.
Floating countdown
On supported iPhone and iPad devices, the floating countdown uses Picture in Picture. It displays minutes, seconds and milliseconds, using the device clock. It does not synchronize with ticket sellers or purchase tickets.
Language and voice
Choose a language in the app's Settings. Your event names and notes are kept as written. System dialogs, Siri and Shortcuts follow their own language settings and availability.
